A true family adventure
Zelected Foods is a Danish, family-owned company. We started in 2004 at the kitchen table at Mette and Palle Lorenzen’s home in Nyborg.
Mette and her sister made up the very first tasting panel when Palle had found new varieties of North African spice blends or Southern European oils.
Our first products were spices and infused oils, and they’re still a core part of our business. We’ve always had the same uncompromising focus:
Making good, honest food accessible. The white Z in the black circle that you know from our packaging comes from our family name: Lorenzen.
Because we’re happy to put our name to the products we deliver.
Information
Curiosity and a passion for good food are our foundation and driving force. We hope you can taste that we’ve put thought into what we make. That it’s honest and authentic. And we hope you’ll share the great food experiences with the people you care about.

We do things the right way
With a range of initiatives within our CSR focus areas, we aim to contribute to more socially responsible development. Our focus areas are:
Transparency and traceability
We’re proud of our products and stand behind the quality—both of the product itself and the production process. We can do that, among other things, because we insist on traceability and transparency in the process. Our sustainable olive oil supplier is CSQA-certified and has a streamlined process where the contents of each individual bottle of olive oil have “travelled” in a closed, protected environment—from pressing all the way to bottling.
That’s why the specific contents of the bottle can be traced all the way back to the specific region it comes from. In the same way, the basil we use in our pesto is continuously checked. It’s stored separately in a closed environment and is 360-degree traceable—all the way down to the specific field that supplied the plants in your pesto.
And if we use wood, for example to produce our cardboard packaging, then of course it’s only FSC-certified wood, which guarantees proper working conditions and protects the world’s forests from excessive logging.
Health
Food waste
We work with Too Good To Go.
Far too much unused food ends up in the bin, and that needs to stop.
We work with Fødevarebanken, Wefood from DanChurchAid and Stop Spild Af Mad to ensure our products end up where they do good—on dining tables.
Plastic consumption
We’ve taken a stand against unnecessary plastic use. That’s why we only use rPET plastic for our dispenser system. rPET plastic is globally recognised as a strong, flexible, safe, non-toxic type of plastic that is 100% recyclable, making it the obvious choice for our dispenser system.
85% LESS PLASTIC
We’ve launched a Shake’N Bake concept in packaging that uses 85% less plastic than other comparable products—so you can invite the kids into the kitchen with a clear conscience.
Animal welfare
Animal welfare is essential to us. Nature is our treasure chest, and it’s where we source our ingredients. That’s why it must be treated with respect.
For the same reason, you won’t find caged eggs in our products.
